The kids' art group started nearly 10 months ago with the book artist to artist. We meet Tuesdays and "visited" nearly all of the artist in the book. You can see some of the results and books we explored here.
We finished the book and even held a gallery showing last month. Friends and family stopped by to admire everyone's art. That was a blast, the little kids played downstairs, the older kids all piled into Grace's room and adults gathered in the living room and kitchen. Loads of laughter, snacks and genuine apprecation of the kids' work filled our home.
We decided to continue through the summer, meeting every other week. Now we are delving into many different styles of art.

This weeks feature artist is Grace!
They began working on a mixed media piece with this as inspiration , created by Grace in 2007.
Today
the older kids started sorting through catalogs (mostly Magic Cabin)
to find a common theme (like "summer" in Grace's example above), cut out three pictures, and then draw around them.

Next time we met they will prep the foam board with acrylics and
decide what they can add to give their piece dimension. (like the shells) It will probably end up being a three week project. I'll post results as I have them to share!

~5 reasons I blog (discovered on my blogging break)~

1. I blog to record our days.
As I'm not journaling or scrapbooking my blog ends up being both journal and scrapbook.

2. I blog for unschooling support. There are only a few close friends here to "get" us and our schooling choices. I know there are far more online than here in southern Indiana.

3. I blog for creative support. My kids are the only ones interested in being artsy, therefore when I show my hubby or mom any of my art I get a nod and a smile. I like feedback.

4. I blog because sometimes facebook and twitter just don't cut it.

5. I blog to share ideas.
It is a bonus if you're entertained or inspired, and I hope you're both!

~ there isn't much to share here presently.. we're doing a bit of everything and nothing.
You see there are baseball games to attend, days to count down,
camps to look forward to, mission trips to plan, art to be made, trips to be taken, VBS to plan, and so forth........ I think it's time for a blogging break.
